If it wasn't already clear, I'm just going to put it out there:

Photography is AWESOME for our sense of wellbeing and mental health.

You know what one of the best things about photography is? We can all do it, and it won't cost a penny! Almost everyone these days has a smartphone, and they all come with a camera as standard.

Over the years I've had many different types of cameras. I spent years avoiding digital cameras - I was an analogue purist!! I've had the compacts with the 110 film, folding cameras, box cameras, polaroid cameras, SLR cameras...but never a digital.

Then I discovered smartphone photography!

Now, my smartphone is the only camera I use. It's always with me, it's quick to use, and I can take full control of all the features.

That's why all the photos you'll see in this section, and all the challenges linked to, are all for smartphones.

  • They're inclusive for all,
  • It's quick and easy to share the images for everyone to enjoy.

School holidays can be hard to manage. There's the changes to routines, needing to find ways to entertain everyone, getting enough exercise (or even just getting the teens to see the sun!). Just as importantly, finding some personal time just for you.

That's why there will be a different themed photo challenge each week during the holidays and half-terms. Use it to get the kids involved and entertained, or to enjoy some well-earned 'you-time' on your own.
